아르헨티나는 20일(이하 한국시각) 미국 뉴욕 뉴저지 스타디움에서 열린 스페인과의 2026년 북중미월드컵 결승전에서 졸전 끝에 0대1로 패하며 준우승에 만족해야 했다. 연장 혈투였지만 '기울어진 운동장'이었다.
역대 최악의 월드컵 결승전이라는 평가가 나올 정도로 아르헨티나는 굴욕이었다. 120분 동안 유효슈팅은 단 1개도 없었다. 첫 슈팅이 경기 종료 직전인 연장 후반 12분 나왔을 만큼 경기력은 참혹했다.
